Reiki & Transformation Meditation

Reiki

Reiki is a healing technique originating from Japan. Reiki is used for the reduction of pain and stress and to increase healing support. It is a system of natural healing which activates the relaxation response in the body. When this happens the immune system sends blood, oxygen and nutrients to areas in need of attention.

Reiki has the ability to bring the body to a deep state of relaxation, allowing the body to be free of stress and ignite its potential to heal. Reiki sessions can be individual or in a group gathering. is a technique used as a stress reliever / relaxer. Reiki involves the "laying of hands" which treats the whole body, mind and spirit. Anyone can benefit form Reiki. It can be used for general wellness or for specific issues.

What to expect

The client will rest comfortably on a massage table on their back with their shoes removed. Reiki can be performed with the client sitting comfortably in chair as well. No articles of clothing are removed. Loose comfortable clothing is suggested. A session can either be hands on, where light touch is applied, or hands-off where hands are held slightly above the body. If a client prefers not to be touched they can indicate this before the start of the session.

The session will then proceed by the moving through specific hand positions beginning at the head or feet. A recipient of Reiki might feel a warming sensation or a tingling during the session or nothing at all but sheer relaxation. The session should be very pleasant, relaxing and invigorating.

Transformation meditation

To meditate simply means to focus one's mind for a period of time, either in silence or accompanied by words, music, or hand gestures that are non-distracting because of their repetitive nature. Rebecca Syx, RN MSN is trained in transformational meditation and offers individual or group guided meditation sessions. Meditation has been shown to lower blood pressure and heart rate, and brings about a more favorable body chemistry.
